How to Find Out What’s In the Health Care Bill

Sharing

When I heard what Nancy Pelosi said about the health care bill the other day, I did a double-take. And had to double-check the press release issued by Pelosi’s own office.

Yikes! She really said it! Then published it on her website to the accompaniment of bugles and trumpets!

Okay, maybe I invented the bugles and trumpets. But not the words:

“Prevention, prevention, prevention — it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting. But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”

Ah yes, the “fog of the controversy”! The way critics of this 2000-page legislation have exposed the regimentation, price controls, new taxes, and choked-off choices we’ll all suffer if the bill passes. How dare we!

Terrible that there’s actually debate about whether we should permanently lose more of our freedoms. Can’t we all agree to be trampled and then find out what it all means? After it’s too late to stop it?

No. Let’s dispel the fog right now. Let the government mail a copy of the bill to every voter.

And let Congress agree that every voter must pass a 500-question multiple choice quiz on its contents before Congress moves forward.

Let’s dispel the fog before we’re saddled with this thing.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

The reason for setting up a constitutional republic was to protect us from the tryanny of the majority. In this case a lynching crew with a noose they want to put on the wallet of the taxpayers. I know that M. Pelosi has no basis of comparison with the 300 million that her husband is worth, but for those of us who married less well, we do care about our hard earned money and the constitution is supposed to protect us from people like her.

Forget the test – they’ll never pass it anyway. I’d require all senators and representatives to be covered by the “health care” bill they pass for the rest of us.

How about having each member of congress take that 500 question quiz and they can’t vote on it unless they get at least a B.

Dear Paul: Yes, we should receive a copy, BEFORE the Congress passes it. Even if its 5,000 pages, WE…could read it, and the Congress should pass NOTHING…that is not read by them, and ALSO APPROVED…by us, the voter!

So how much of this bill is the health bill and how much of it is “pork”? It seems that our representative never have a bill without special interest groups getting their two cents worth tucked in somewhere. I keep wondering… If those of us who have health insurance and are happy where we are could continue as is and those who need coverage, excluding those who should not receive it because they should not be in the USA, were to be able to sign up for the coverage if they chose to, wouldn’t it be a lot cheaper for everyone and possibly better?

As a Senior Citizen, I feel I am under seige. First they take away my cost of living increase for two years. Now they want to tell me that I should — and may have to — let them manage my health care. I will ask for a complete list of all those who voted for this health plan so that I can help them throw them out in November. I feel violated.

Even when these so-called representatives have a program we might like, they add all kinds of pork.We can then get something we want, but have to accept millions and millions of throw-away dollars to keep these guys happy and remind the voters of all the things being done for them. Bills should be clean, and have only one project in each bill.

Governmental controlled and/or run healthcare is a farce. The problem is that the system encourages these immoral pieces of legislation to be passed.

I want to see a bill and/or a constitutional amendment that requres at least an 80% yes vote in order to pass any laws that increase taxes and/or regulations on non-government citizens. Also, the same bill should authorize that only a 50% or less vote is needed in order to eliminate laws that created taxes and/or regulations on non-government citizens.

The people who desire more individual freedom are not the government. The politicians have superimposed their rules on us without our consent. These pompous asses think that they have the right to use force against us in order for them to obtain their goals. They are nothing but thugs.

This law would not apply to elected office holders and government employees. In other words, we could tax and regulate these misanthropes, but they could not do that to us.

Gaining back the freedoms that the government has taken away from us will take bold aggressive action.
We need to educate ourselves in the ways that a truly freedom oriented society would work. Then we can pass on this knowledge to other people.

Political action is transitory. I
believe that positive long-term results can be obtained by promoting crtitical thinking.
