IRS Wants Your Four Cents

Sharing

On the one hand, we’ve got trillion-dollar federal deficits and no sign of any austerity measure on the congressional horizon. On the other hand, we’ve got dark-suited IRS agents bullying small businessmen for allegedly being four cents behind in taxes.

The letter that the two IRS suits hand-delivered to the owner of Harv’s Metro Car Wash in Sacramento claims that with penalties piling up since 2006, Aaron Zeff now owes over $200. Zeff reports that the agents “were deadly serious, very aggressive, very condescending.”

The incident is bad press for the Internal Revenue Service. But maybe the taxmen relish this kind of bad press once in a while. After all, they need the rest of us to worry what might happen to us if we step out of line even four cents worth, even if it’s only in the fevered imagination of some bored IRS accountant.

Was the hounding of Mr. Zeff a deliberate plan or just zealous overreaching by a couple of goons who forgot to read the manual on being nice to taxpayers? Who knows. Either way, though, do we want the IRS in charge of slapping us with a big tax penalty if we don’t sign up for a government-approved health plan? After all, that’s a big part of the so-called health care “reform” that Congress is in process of imposing on us.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

Many in the nation are working on efforts for a “Fair Tax” and still others for a “Flat Tax”, while still others want to abolish the IRS.
So, what does our president who says he is not a socialist & his minions in congress do?
They create a new entitlement program the nation cannot afford. They impose huge new taxes on Americans in the midst of a serious recession. And to ice their cake?
They establish the IRS as the regulatory enforcement body to monitor payments & collect any unpaid premiums for the new health care bureaucracy.
Sounds like the whole thing is rather through, huh?
Just one small detail escaped their bureaucracy minded minds.
The IRS will need approximately 16,000 new agents to accomplish this task, and they were not provided for in the bill.
Not only did someone forget to tell IRS they needed to hire all those people, the president & congress forgot to financially account for the costs of those 16,000 new agents.
How many more little errors & omissions do you think might be lurking in the 2,700 or so pages of the health care legislation & its unknown number of pages in the “fix-it legislation required to satisfy the House which passed the Senate bill will serious objections to much of its content?
What a plan. I feel so safe & secure!
Do you?

I and my wife did not sign up for Medicare part D and have no intention of signing up for ObamaCare, either.
I don’t know what their reaction will be, but if there are enough of us hanging together, maybe nothing.

There is no manual on being nice to taxpayers. Government can do one thing, and one thing only: they can threaten to kill you. It can’t educate children, provide health care, pave roads, deliver mail, or manage national parks. Not without forcing you and your neighbors to pay for it.
The IRS doesn’t usually mention death as a penalty for non-payment, of course. But try to hold on to your property when the government wants it and see what happens.

The Healthcare debacle bill had a section on how no taxpayers were to be penalized or have property attached or seized. That’s one of the after the fact items that they’re going to “fix”. Can’t have 150 million working folks thinking that they can ignore Presbo’s private army.
The new staff is to pay for itself by how much property and fines they assess and collect. Shouldn’t be any problem with motivation since they don’t eat if they don’t collect.

My 92 year old mother-in-law who lives on social security, received threatening letters continually over a 4 month period in 2009 claiming she owed taxes plus interest on unclaimed income. They eventually threatened to take the money from her bank account. By the time it was resolved (IRS wound up owing her several hundred dollars) she was in such a state that her family had to move her from her home into an assisted care center. She is only now recovering.

IRS Agent Holmes still has no solid answers for me nor does the N.J. Tax Payer Advocate.

Given my wife hid millions during my divorce proceeding and stole those records – There might be a reason after all?
