The BWIA Taboo

Sharing

Last week, a Mommy Maelstrom unleashed when Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen, interviewed as an “expert” on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, charged that Ann Romney, who reared five boys as a stay-at-home mom and continues to be the better half of presidential candidate Mitt, had “never worked a day in her life.”

Super-swaddling mothers of all sorts were outraged. Their husbands, as I can attest, were offended as well.

Stay-at-home mothers work. Hard. Long hours. So, there!

After denouncing Ann Romney’s career status, Rosen added that, “She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and, and, and how do we worry — and, why do we worry about their future.”

So perhaps Rosen wasn’t attacking Mrs. Romney’s decision to stay home and rear her kids, but, instead, Romney’s commission of a more heinous crime: BWIA (Being Wealthy in America). She should be ignored not because she’s a homemaker, but because she’s rich.

That bias against “the rich” is nearly official national policy. Though a devoted and hardworking mother, Ann Romney should be seen and not heard.

What upset Ms. Rosen was not that she might be seen and heard by us, but by her husband, if elected. You see, when we vote for a president we in effect vote for an unofficial advisor. With Bill Clinton we got Hillary; with Mitt we’d get Ann.

By Washington’s standards, Rosen’s worst transgression was to remind voters that Ann Romney exists — for as soon as Ann gets into the picture, Mitt doesn’t look so bad.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

And, that’s why I say, “isn’t free speech wonderful?” LOL, yes especially a megaphone of “free speech” for the commies on the left with their dominance of the “legacy” media. Every time they open their ill-educated mouths, the people who don’t pay attention get an IN YOUR FACE education on just who they are…spoiled, jealous children. It’s a delight for us who do pay attention, frustrated with the sheep that go along with them.

Hilary Rosen did a wonderful thing and brought Ann Romney to the fore. Like a petulant child, Rosen thought putting down Ann Romney would be a stake in her heart. Instead, she showed the world how petty, immature, and just plain stupid she (and hopefully) the left is.

That’s BS and you know it. Mitt Romney said that he got advice about what women are concerned about from his wife who has NEVER worked outside her mansions. She probably doesn’t know how to turn on a vacuum or a dish washer. Nannies, butlers, and now an elevator garage. Guess she can’t walk to her car. How would Ann Romney know anything about what women in the work place (not the home) want/need? She wouldn’t and that was the point.

Just more BS from you.

Let’s see, if I want to figure out how for America to be economically successful, I should listen to:
A. Someone who is economically successfull
B. A poor person

Didn’t Ms. Rosen get canned from Huffpo for editorializing on the BP spill while being a consultant on the side for BP?

Why should we be paying attention to apparantly envious, negative comments by a lesbian about a mom who is actively and successfully raising a family?

Taking advice from Ann Romney about women in the workplace is like asking Sarah Palin what magazines to read to learn about national/foreign affairs. Had Sarah ever even read a magazine/newspaper–other than “all of them”? Maybe she read People or Babies Are Us.

DUMBOCRATS OR REPUBLIKOOKS. That is the choice. Not a very good one.

Mitt Romney is better than the two fools–Santorum and Gingrich–but anyone who ties his dog to the top of his car for a long trip may be lacking in common sense. And flop-flipping? Who knows what his position will be next week.

He knows the REPUBLIKOOK mantra–guns, abortion, religion, and, of course, lower taxes for the rich. What a country!!

For you evangelists, is a Morman really a Christian?

Don’t forget that Romney wants to double-down in Afghanistan. But none of his family will be there. Of course!!!

Haven’t we had enough of wars that aren’t paid for thanks to George Bush. 5,000+ U.S. deaths and hundreds of thousands wounded at a cost that will approach 5 trillion dollars.

Add in the unpaid Medicare prescription drug program and the trillion dollar plus Bush tax cuts and we are talking about real money.

Without the wars, the Medicare drugs, and the tax cuts, the deficit would be much, much less. But I guess that never crossed your mind.

The last president who had a balanced budget came from humble beginnings–Clinton–and had no business experience. How did he ever get to a balanced budget without running a business? Must have been magic.

Clinton? Really? And so far off the topic of Ann Romney? And Clinton is the best you come up with?
Clinton’s “balanced budgets” involved placing major budget items (Social Security, government pensions, Medicare) off budget.

And any movement toward control of spending Clinton achieved were forced on him by gridlock with a GOP Congress.
Clinton ran deficits throught all 8 years of his term. (http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np)

Clinton claimed a surplus while the general operating budgets ran deficits by borrowing from numerous off budget funds to make the on budget fund a surplus.
In year 2000 for example, total borrowed from off budget funds $246.5B, meaning that his $230B surplus is actually a $16.5B deficit.
Not in the same league as Presbo’s more than a trillion a year, but still.

But you could have figured that out yourself.

Well Drink, 16 billion is a lot less than the 5.5 trillion that Bushy Wushy ran up when Cheney was president. And the wars were not part of the budget either. When you elect a dumb ass with an IQ of less than 100–little Georgie Porgie–you get what you deserve.

You got what you deserved. You deserved what you got.

But, I guess you blame Clinton for Bushy Wushy’s failures.

Just another REPUBLIKOOK. Keep drinking the KOOKAID.

Ann Romney is so smart–something she learned by working at home–that Mitt should rely on her infinite wisdom about Afghanistan, North Korea, healthcare, and all the other issues she is an expert on–an endless list I am sure. Might as well ask her; she probably knows as much as poor little Mitty. At least she knows more than Sarah Palin. Watch Game Change for a reality check about her qualifications to be vice president. She and Bushy Wushy would have been a great team.

Ann Romney will make a great adviser with all the knowledge she got as a supervisor of nannies, etc. She probably couldn’t turn on a vacuum cleaner if her life depended on it. Does she know how to drive a car? Hilarious.

It is impossible for me to comprehend that this country does not recognize that the greatest responsibility of the present generation is the raising of the next, to hopefully surpass their accomplishments.
If Ann Romney is willing and was able to devote her life to her children and family, she was blessed. That she choose to devote her life them is her choice, and an exercise of her personal liberty. It should be defended, not second guessed, by Ms. Rosen or others.
Conversely, Ms. Rosen’s right to exercise her liberty to make her choices, and live with their consequences, should be defended equally.
It is quite likely that in matters that really count Ms. Rosen was not significantly less priviliged than Mrs. Ronmey, or that she personally has “really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and, and, and how do we worry — and, why do we worry about their future.”
It is amazing how little we appreciate the unprecedented standard of living we all generally enjoy, especially when compared to ALL of humanity which preceded us and, presently, most of the rest of the world.
Regarding your ascribing, as a potential motivation, jealously of the comparative present economic well being of the Romneys, that, if true, is much more troubling than Ms. Rosen’s foolish criticisms of Romneys’ exercise of their liberty. That position reveals a major character flaw becoming more and more evident in the politics of the left.
This great country was built on Judeo-Christian ethics which include a prohibition from even coveting another’s goods.
I premise, and history teaches, that habitual individual or societal violation of any of the main tenants brings one individually and/or as a society to damnation, both in the present and in the afterlife, should you believe in one.
If Ms. Rosen has forgotten or is ignoring that principle, she and those erring with her, might wish to consider the long term implications of their thoughts as they are not very pleasant.

Get serious JFB. No one is saying that there is anything wrong with being a stay-at-home mom.

Mitt Romney was asked a question about who he got advice from on women’s concerns. He couldn’t think of anyone but his wife Ann because he has never asked anyone about the subject.

The point is that Ann Romney has no idea about the problems of working women–those who don’t stay at home. She doesn’t even have much of an idea about the problems of stay-at-home moms since she had an unlimited budget and nannies, servants, etc. Along with six mansions!!!

Ann Romney may be a great person and someone to be admired but she is not someone who should be an adviser about the problems of working women.

When I was stationed at Homestead AFB one of my wife’s friends called and asked my wife to go for a ride with her. What did she want? She wanted to go to the base gas station to fill up her car and she didn’t know how. That is how I picture Ann Romney. Do you think she buys the groceries, etc.? I don’t.

George Bush was so out of touch with American life that he didn’t even know what a bar code scanner was.

Not only that, when Cheney convinced him to go to war with Iraq under the ruse of avenging his daddy, Bush didn’t even know that there were muslim sects in Iraq. He didn’t know that Saddam Hussein was a Sunni and that those who we would ultimately give the country to were Shia. He therefore didn’t know that Iran was Shia and that by giving control to the Shia in Iraq we were in essence giving Iraq to Iran.

You deserve what you get. You get what you deserve.

Add to that, the 5 Romney boys never got into trouble. A hands on stay at home parent does that and society benefits. Not having a generating income job does not mean Ann or any other stay at home mom/parent isn’t doing other things outside the home that take hours of time. The parent chaperones on school and church trips are usually stay at home moms. When 200 students need chaperones in order to participate in music competitions the stay at home moms are who step up, not the working moms and dads. That would require taking vacation time. Been there done that. When a working mom and dads kid has an emergency at school, he calls the stay at home neighbor mom as his mom and dad can’t be reached at work. Yup been there done that too. When the working daughter in law raised by a working mom, is unhappy after paying for her trip to Europe, Lasik surgery, hot tub and things, and she leaves her husband and child and moves half way across the country with no job to go to. Stay at home mom/grandma steps in and brings her child into my home. Yup been there done that. The evidence has been there for two generations, a stay at home parent benefits the children and society.

I should also add, I was a working mom out of no other option, and the child was from a previous marriage where the birth mother/wife walked away when her credit card debt was so staggering she could use it as leverage. Her husband takes her debt and he could also have full custody of the child. I worked so we could pay off the ex’s credit card debts faster and the child was in day care. My 1st and only birth child was home schooled. She is currently a college junior with plans of pursuing a PHD in Physical Therapy, has performed at age 16 and 17 through an audition with the Natl Collegiate Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, and was a three sport athlete, has three yrs of Japanese and traveled to Japan twice and Europe. None of this would have occurred if I were a full time working parent! I develop and mold future adults if given the opportunity.

JFB — Thanks for getting “serious” and making some great points, including the fact that envy is not very becoming, or healthy.

Michelle — Congratulations for your hard work outside the home and inside the home. The world needs more folks like you.

RE: Jim–about Sarah PALIN: DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THAT YOU HEAR ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

As governor, she had a 90+% APPROVAL RATING.

Consider Presbro–community organizer; buys a 1.+ million dollar home BUT CANNOT PAY OFF HIS STUDENT LOANS while a state senator; and his wife an attorney and/or hospital administrator

Palin’s emails- literally hundreds of “reporters to read them, and what did they show? Emails about the family, or state business.

Presbro- probably, like his college records, sealed.
