Gun Nuts

“Gun violence is as serious as the Ebola virus is being represented in the media,” says Beloit, Wisconsin, Police Chief Norm Jacobs, “and we should fight it using the tools that we’ve learned from our health providers.”

Hmmmm, I immediately wondered what tools used against Ebola could possibly be used against “gun violence.” Will police don Hazmat suits? Should we quarantine criminals who shoot and kill people? (Well, more on that shortly.)

No, the Beloit Police Department is launching a new program asking city residents to voluntarily permit officers to search their homes for guns.

According to Wisconsin Public Radio, Chief Jacobs wants to “encourage people to think about gun violence as an infectious disease like Ebola, and a home inspection like a vaccine to help build up the city’s immune system.”

Yes. He actually said that.

Perhaps the chief is a little overwhelmed. More than 100 murders have been committed this year in Wisconsin using a gun. That’s a problem, for sure — whether a gun is involved or not, though. But searching the homes of law-abiding folks isn’t any sort of solution.

What seems most statistically significant is the fact that 93 percent of those accused of committing these murders have a prior arrest record, as do the 94 percent of Badger State victims of gun violence.

Pretending that the problem is not criminals, but, instead, firearms “hiding” in the homes of the law-abiding? A gross misdiagnosis.

And deadly . . . stupid.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

If Ebola were really so dangerous, then why isn’t the government initiating real steps to keep it out of the country.
Quarantines were routinely used for hundreds of years for illnesses that had no cure.
Not unrealistic to take steps to make damn sure that the virus stays out of America.
But that would require actually securing the borders.
The military is supposed to be able to be used to protect the country from invasion.

I’m not a Rush Limbaugh fan but apparently he said that the Eric Garner death is basically tied to TAX MONEY……………

I think i agree and think it’s a piece of wisdom on the system that fears the people evading the tax system by selling an individual cigarette without a license and avoiding the payment of tax to the state. So the police force actually went to the extent of KILLING this man because he was avoiding licensing & and tax remittance on one cigarette!

I think it ties right in to the confiscation of personal assets and proves that police departments and governmental agencies are now basically tax raising enforcers bent on keeping the cash coming in no matter what.

Does the chief think that a gun may have sneaked into the home of some unknowing individual, and is hiding in a closet or under the bed? Does he think there is no Second Amendment? Does he think at all?

I thought everybody knew by this time that criminals aren’t really guilty. All crime is due to guns or disadvantages enforced by the ‘system’. If we can just rid the country of guns, change the system so the people that ‘really’ deserve it are indicted and convicted, make everyone be nicer by keeping their mouths shut, and collect more taxes so all our wealth we’ve stolen can be redistributed then this country will shine again and we’ll have no crime! What a wonderful world that will be!

There may be a vaccine for Ebola shortly, but it will be a long time before one for terminal stupidity is developed. Sadly that malaise appears to be epidemic and spreading like wild fire in the governmental and law enforcement administrative sectors.

The famous Forest Gump line comes to mind, “Stupid is as stupid does.” If I couldn’t afford to move from Beloit, I’d be sure to buy a firearm.

Anyone who is crazy enough to let someone search their house is nuts. If they want, they can just turn their guns in. I have high praise for those conscious enough to keep a weapon to defend themselves.

Guns have been essentially outlawed in the hands of private citizens in England. Their death rate from guns is now 100 times what it was before the ban and 10 times the current rate of the United States.
Apparently we need MORE guns.

I really got a laugh out of nut chief Jacobs desire to search homes of those who’ve not been accused of crimes, because there might be a gun there the owner doesn’t know aobut.

Makes you wonder whether or not chief Jacobs can keep track of his guns, and whether he has some lying around his home he doesn’t know about. That is the quality of the people in government acting in our name to protect our lives, property, liberty and pursuit of happiness. We need to “hire” better employees, or better yet, eliminate most of their jobs, to just dealing with situations in which one person harms another.
