The Clinton Chasm

Sharing

Hillary Clinton is roundly disliked by millions of outsiders, but admired by hundreds of politicians and activists. What sets her apart?

She listens.

Well, that’s Ezra Klein’s take in “Understanding Hillary,” an almost-believable piece of apologetics courtesy of Vox.

He calls Hillary’s problem “The Gap,” though “Vast Chasm” is more like it.

There’s a huge difference between how the public sees her — “Polls show most Americans doubt her basic honesty” — and how her fellow insiders feel about her. “She inspires a rare loyalty in ex-staff,” Klein informs us, “and an unusual protectiveness even among former foes.”

Klein emphasizes Mrs. Clinton’s capacity to talk naturally and listen carefully, when dealing one-on-one with insiders and constituents, and in small groups. “She gets things done,” he asserts, though I think what he really means is she moves her agenda forward. Actual accomplishments? Open to dispute.

On the crucial issue of trust, Klein buys into what Hillary is selling. She says people doubt her because she’s been so often attacked.

I don’t know about you, but I doubt her because . . . well, cattle futures, for starters. Her ridiculous “vast right-wing conspiracy” dodge to all those rich 1990s scandals: the blue dress, President Bill losing his law license, even the crony takeover of the White House travel office. Hillary has led the way more recently with the Benghazi “video” lie and her private server and email scandal. Plus, witness the ongoing conflict presented by the Clinton Foundation raking in millions from unsavory foreign sources..

Klein, on the other hand, argues that the media is against her.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

The main reason the GOP manufactured the various Benghazi smears was payback for the Benghazi video bit. They believe that they’d have won the election if the initial reports had not focused on the video.

These are the same folk who blithely dismiss the Cheney/Bush “Mushroom cloud” talk leading up to the Iraq War vote. Thousands of US lives lost. Tens of thousands of Iraqi lives lost.

The key difference is that Benghazi is personal to the GOP. Elections mean everything to them. Truth, not so much. Lives, not so much. Two trillion borrowed dollars, not so much.

She won her first senate election after embarking on a ‘listening tour’ in areas of New York that were hard hit by her husband’s economic policies. She might do well in small groups of ‘peers’, but how is she going to come across nationally? Related to Benghazi, is her performance before Congress: “What difference, at this point, does it make?” My guess is she is counting on voters to use that as a reason to vote for her. After all, Benghazi was four years ago. Never mind that Hillary was the one who got us into Libya. Let bygones be bygones, right? One suggestion, Hillary: curb the shrieking, if you can.

It would take a book to itemize the negatives of these two., I cannot grasp how anyone considering voting would vote for either Trump or Clinton. I am thoroughly convinced random strangers in an office building would be less controversial and show better judgement.

Some examples of the Hilldog’d ability to speak naturally ….

As first “lady” of Arkansas …
“Arkansas State Trooper: “Good Morning.”
Hilldog: “F**k off! It’s enough I have to see you shit-kickers every day, I’m not going to talk to you too!! Just do your G*damn job and keep your mouth shut.”

The Clintons had some handicapped children over for Easter to collect Easter eggs on their lawn. However, when the children weren’t finding the eggs fast enough, Hillary lost patience with them. “When are they going to get those f—ing ree-tards out of here?!” yelled Hillary, who was inexplicably named as Arkansas’ “Mother of the Year” in 1984.

In another instance her reaction to the flag not being raised at sunrise was, ““Where is the God d**n f**king flag? I want the God d**n f**king flag up every f**king morning at f**king sunrise.”

Her attitude as First Lady of the United States seemed to change little.
Her response to Secret Service Agents whom she felt were too close to her was, “Stay the f**k back, stay the f**k away from me! Don’t come within ten yards of me or else! Just f**king do as I say, okay!?”

Trump and Hillary What a pair. disturbing! In order to get in a better frame of mind, going to drive over to a little coffee house and watch Johnson on TV with other Texas libertarians. The young libertarian here as else where I have lived are smart, well read, logically thinking, principled and hard working. But them being young I am glad they will let me sit and chat after the Johnson interview. Good for MY old tattered morale.
