Townhall: Return to Republicanism?

Sharing

This weekend’s Common Sense column over at Townhall may seem familiar to readers of Common Sense. It summarizes a bunch of ideas we grapple with all the time. Even the historical facts about the Roman Republic and Empire may seem familiar — and for a reason. Most were featured in the “Today in Freedom” sidebar.

So click on over to Townhall, and then back here for some more reading:

I don’t know about you, but I wonder if Vladimir Putin sees himself as Odoacer. And Obama as Romulus Augustus.

Oh, here is Elizabeth Warren calling Tea Party Republicans “anarchists”:

You’re right of course. But the problem is that we have been “progressed” into a government in which 50% of the working population now works for some government agency or another(or are receiving direct assistance from one of them). 25% of the rest are unemployed and the remaining 25% are busting their hump trying to get by and don’t really have time or energy to get involved. And i’ve always believed Rome fell because of “complex systems”, destruction of their money, which with the tax code we have, regulations, Federal Reserve, etc certainly qualifies.

The sad reality is that when Obama got reelected the country took a turn left that it probably won’t recover from. Good luck, fight the good fight. I will always be a supporter but i also see the hand writing on the wall.

Until the Libertarians get a charismatic enough leader to break through, we will be marginalized and the 2 party fight will devolve further and continue to slide left. No different than Europe.

Until the Libertarians get a charismatic enough leader, or the right cause to break through, we will be marginalized and the 2 party fight will devolve further and continue to slide left. No different than Europe.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this website.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance”
between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say that you’ve done a very good job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads super fast for me on Internet explorer.
Outstanding Blog!
