Think Freely Media presents Common Sense with Paul Jacob

CNN, You’ve Been Trolled

The Cable News Network, known popularly and un- as CNN — and satirically as the “Clinton News Network” and “Fake News” — so hysterically hates the president that it has become completely unhinged.

Well, unhinged from decency and journalistic standards, anyway.

The latest slips downward?

First, some pseudonymous guy* on Reddit created a little gif** that placed a CNN-logo on the head of a wrestler whom Donald Trump “took down” in some weird bit of nonsense publicity the entertainer-entrepreneur was prone to, pre-presidency. Trump then retweeted a version of the gif, calling CNN (once again) “fake news.” This made CNN look silly,*** so CNN tracked the originator down and pressured him to make a humiliating apology — for it and other, more tasteless contributions. He deleted most of what he had done on Reddit.

CNN looks petty: a bully. And clueless about the free-for-all that is the Internet.

The Twitterverse erupted against the news outfit.

This went super-viral on July 4, the same day that CNN tried to humiliate Mr. Trump by tweeting a quote from Abraham Lincoln: “Let the people know the facts, and the country will be safe.”

How apt!

And yet . . . Lincoln did not say it. Not exactly. The “fake news” network faked a presidential quote.

CNN apparently doesn’t understand that responding to trolls feeds the trolls and makes you look bad, to boot.

I suppose you could blame Trump for all this. His ridiculous tweets and whoppers have so corrupted the culture that his enemies (CNN being the obvious media leader) have adopted his methods.

But I won’t. Not this time.

Just blame the people at CNN.

This is Common Sense. I’m Paul Jacob.

* He referred to himself as a “shitposter,” which is what satirists and trolls on the Web are called.

** A “gif” is an image file, and has been around since the beginning of the World Wide Web. Nowadays, when we talk about “gifs” we usually are referring to brief animated gifs.

*** Frankly, it made the president look silly, too.

Politics have been corrupted for decades, The Donald is simply fighting back and the MSM and theSwamp don;t like getting hit back.

  2. Karen H says:

The incredible acrimony of the general news media towards President Trump is so sickening, I don’t even watch cable or local news any more. I will read news on line & unfortunately in the biased news papers, but at least the newspaper doesn’t scream at me.

Yes, Pres Trump has some responsibility in all this. His overuse of twitter for petty beefs makes mountains out of molehills. I wish he’d just stop & focus on real issues rather then ‘Fake News.” That said, CNN has most definitely disgraced itself. I used to watch Anderson Cooper & a few other shows, now, just Anthony Bourdain & no politics are involved there.

Got to love how the liberals are for free speech, but only if they like or agree with what’s being said.

  3. Pat says:

Trump didn’t invent Twitter.   He didn’t create the video.  He just passed it on.
If the media can’t take a joke then maybe they should all stop watching late-night TV.
As for the fake Lincoln quote, if the media had done their job during the last two Democrat administrations, they might still have the trust of most people and Trump might never have even run for president, let alone gotten elected.
The funniest statement I hear from the press is that President Trump should show ‘respect for the office’.   When did they ever say that to Bill Clinton?
The press dug its own hole on this one.  One wonders when they’ll figure that out and stop digging.

  4. Rocketman says:

There’s an old saying that goes something like this. “If you want to find out just who really runs things then find out who your not allowed to criticize.”
I guess that means that the world is run by CNN. No wonder why the world is so screwed up!!!

  5. Carl Fisher says:

But so many of Trumps”‘whoppers” turn out to be true. His wild wiretapping story, for example, turned out to just be just the tip of a very big national security iceberg…
